Our
community is growing in numbers and in the life of faith.
Our
ministries reach communities of Central Pennsylvania
with a
message of hope and transformation everyday.
Our core
values hold that every member and friend of our church is a minister
(1 Peter 2:9).
We also
believe in doing ministry as part of teams which provide ongoing
support
for our
members and friends.
Ministry
Teams at Metropolitan Community Church
Spiritual Care Team
Our spiritual care team is growing to
meet the needs of our congregation. This team of lay and clergy
ministers provides support, prayer, and presence to those who are
sick, grieving, or in need of additional support and resources. If
you would like to be contacted by a team member or you are aware of
a need email your request to
spiritualcare@mccofthespirit.org or
contact the church office.
Prayer Team
Our Prayer Warriors meet on Thursday
nights at 7 p.m. in Camp Hill. Contact Laura for directions at
lauralark@aol.com. All are invited to come and pray over many
needs. Prayer requests can be sent to
MCCSPrayers@yahoogroups.com -- day or night! We believe in
the transformational power of prayer.
Ministry of the Board of Directors
The Board of Directors serves as the
fiduciary leaders of the church. We understand the ministry of the
Board to be a spiritual practice, as we support one another and make
policy decisions as community. It is our practice to host open
Board meetings, members and friends are always welcome to attend.
Meetings are scheduled for the 3rd Monday of every month
at 6pm, with additional meetings as needed. For more information
about the ministry of the Board contact any Board member. Please
call the church office in advance to confirm dates and times of
scheduled meetings.
Worship Teams
Our worship team assist
in planning and leading worship services and special events. Our
teams plan music and liturgy for our weekly services. At MCCS we
worship as a community of believers and our worship team is a model
of that belief in practice.
Ministry of the Choir
The Metropolitan Community Church
choir is a transformational blessing to the lives of many around
Central Pennsylvania. Our choir sings regularly during Sunday
worship and participates in special events such as Central PA Pride
fest concerts. The choir meets every Tuesday night at 7pm for
rehearsal. Join the choir to lift your joyful voice in song.
Sharing Our Caring Dinner Program
The Sharing Our Caring dinner program
is an outreach to the community. Once a month we host a dinner for
family and friends living with HIV/AIDS. The meal is a hosted sit
down event which models dignity and respect for our clients. Dinner
often begins with a short presentation on ways to live well with HIV
and to care for the whole person, body, mind, and spirit. Various
organizations and faith groups partner with our team of volunteers
to host the monthly dinner. The program is held in our fellowship
hall the second Monday of every month at 6:30pm.
Hospitality Team
Community-building and outreach is an
important part of our congregation. One of the ways we model this
practice is providing space for community building and conversation
following Sunday worship. Fellowship hour is an opportunity for us
to connect as community, greet visitors and make new friends. If you
would like to help provide refreshments for this ministry, please
sign up in the church foyer.
Spiritual Education Team
We continue grow and learn throughout
our lives, from childhood through adulthood. At MCC of the Spirit,
throughout the year, we offer opportunities for Bible Study, book
discussions, membership classes, movie nights and more opportunities
to continue to grow and learn on your faith journey.
Prison Ministry Team
Recently our church began outreach
within the State Correctional Institution at Frackville. Our
worship team and vocalists participated in the Sunday protestant/
charismatic service in the prison chapel. Our team worshipped with
over 250 inmates, testifying to God’s radically inclusive love. We
plan to visit the facility at least twice a year. For more
information regarding our next visit, please contact the church
office.
Men’s and Women’s Communities
Our church provides intentional
community and safe space for women and men to share their concerns
and build community. Our spirituality groups meet on a regular
basis. We also host regular social events which are a great way to
connect and make new friends. If you are interested in learning
more, contact Rev. Roben Waddell (robensroost@yahoo.com).
Stewardship Team
All that we have belongs to God. Our
Stewardship team works to build the practice of sharing our
abundance through faithful giving of our time, talents, and
finances. Each year our pledge campaign forms the backbone of
ministry support. We believe in the practice of holistic
stewardship of all resources entrusted to us. The work of this
ministry team includes the practice of spiritual discernment as we
plan and communicate our annual pledge campaign.
Fundraising Team
We believe that fun and fellowship
can also support the ministries of the church. To that end, our
Ministry of Fundraising and Finance offers opportunities like Bingo,
Lottery calendars, basket auctions, and dine-out community nights.
To be a part of Team Spirit, or to assist with any of our
fundraisers, contact Chris (ccd277@comcast.net),
or sign up in the church foyer.
